Before you start ensure:
You’re signed in to LawY Contracts in Word.
You’ve reviewed the contract in the LawY Document Options panel.
You’ve applied the redlines you want to explain. Summary works from the changes you’ve applied, so finish your review first.
Open the LawY Document Options panel
In Word, select the Add-ins tab, then LawY Document Options. The panel opens beside your document.Finish your review
Work through the clauses in the panel and apply the redlines you want. Icons beside each clause show where LawY has flagged a risk and where changes have been made.Click Summarise changes
It’s the black button at the bottom of the panel.Choose who’s reading
Client writes in plain English and assumes no legal background.
Counterparty writes lawyer-to-lawyer, for the other side.Choose the format
Running summary gives a short explanation for each clause, ideal for an email.
Table sets each change out as clause, summary and comments.Click Generate
Keep Word open while LawY creates your summary.Check your summary
It opens as a new Word document titled with the contract name and the date, with an entry for each changed clause and an explanation of the change. Read it through and edit anything you’d put differently, especially the emphasis and anything commercial that only you know.Save it, then send it
The new document isn’t saved yet. Save it with the matter, then copy the text into your email or letter, or attach it.
