1. Ensure Your Matter Data is Complete
Ensure all documents, correspondence, and client details are complete and current before running a Prompt. Missing or outdated information may result in incomplete content or unresolved placeholders.
2. Access and Use Prompts from the Prompt Library
You can search and filter prompts by region and/or area of law.
You can select a Prompt to preview and create a document and/or you can download the Prompt.
3. Understand the Prompt Structure
Each Prompt has four core elements:
Purpose sets out the type of document to be drafted and its intended use.
Preliminary Questions clarify key inputs that guide the content of the document.
Template outlines document structure with placeholders.
Rules set out the formatting, tone, and drafting requirements.
Avoid adding other sections such as extra steps or assumptions, as these may interfere with Prompt performance.
4. Select the Correct Model
There are three models available:
CA: Original model (not recommended for current use).
CA-V2: Recommended for summaries, letters, briefs.
LA: Ideal for longer documents (e.g. affidavits)
Tip: Most Prompts default to CA-V2 for speed and precision. You can switch between models when reloading the Prompt.
5. Template Use and Placeholder Actions
Templates automatically extract the correct matter data. If any placeholders remain, treat them as prompts for manual follow-up. Unresolved placeholders indicate missing or unclear information. This may require updated data, further review, or client clarification.
6. Give Clear Instructions for Formatting
Include formatting instructions in the Rules Section:
Numbered paragraphs
Bold headings
Tables
Prompts do not control font style, spacing, or margins. Final formatting should be done in Microsoft Word
7. Review and Verify Every Draft Before Use
Always review outputs for legal accuracy and consistency with professional obligations. Prompts generate drafts, not final documents.
Always verify the output.
8. Reload Prompts for Comparison
Each Prompt run may produce slightly different outputs.
It is recommended to reload the Prompt where the first version is not ideal.
Comparing outputs can help select the version that most closely aligns with the needs of the matter.
9. Refine Your Draft Using Canvas or Chat
Use Canvas (section edit in purple) or Chat to:
Edit specific sections
Clarify facts
Resolve placeholders.
This interactive approach helps improve both the accuracy and quality of the draft.
10. Refine and Update Your Prompts Regularly
Prompt performance improves with refinement. Testing and feedback are essential to ensuring consistent high-quality outputs.
